Crest Medical welcomes Martyn's Law : The Protection of Premises Act 2025
4 April 2025
The Protection of Premises Act 2025 sometimes referred to as Martyn’ Law received Royal Assent this week.
Crest Medical welcomes this new legislation. Its implementation will further safeguard the public and raise general awareness of safety, evacuation procedures, and the potentially life-saving benefits of first aid training of individuals and in the workplace.
The Act aims to improve the safety and security of public venues by requiring owners to have a comprehensive plan in place to protect against terrorist attacks. This includes measures such as conducting thorough risk assessments, implementing appropriate security measures, and providing staff training, such as the administration of first aid to respond effectively in case of an emergency. In practice the Law will ensure that public venue owners, take reasonably practical steps to ensure safety of visitors and have plans in place to deal with an emergency situation in the event of a terrorist attack on or near a public venue.
